Hiring Studio Manager, Hyattsville location
The Loft Collective, opening its second location at 4214 Gallatin St, Hyattsville MD 20781, is seeking a part time Studio Manager with substantive teaching experience, responsible for overseeing the launch of this location, including the implementation of preschool and school age art classes during the school year and full day camp programs during the summer.
The Studio Manager is responsible for creating a welcoming studio environment that actively supports thoughtful risk-taking, artistic experimentation, kindness and respect. While this is partially an administrative role, there is a significant teaching component and an ideal candidate has experience planning and teaching lessons and managing a classroom. This position reports to the Creative Director.
The Studio Manager for Hyattsville will have the following duties and undertake the following responsibilities:
Participate in the launch of a new space, including set up of the physical space, community outreach, and build out of programming and administrative features to get new location operational
Maintain a safe, clean, functioning environment for all programming
Teach weekly art classes in 6-week units for weekend and after school art classes for preK and K-5th graders
Teach and manage camp days by for DCPS and PGCPS school days off, planning and implementing activities, in accordance with a theme
Participate in quarterly planning meetings as part of the staff team
Engage in community events in Hyattsville to build and foster neighborhood connections
Other duties as assigned
This position begins April 1, 2025. We’re hoping to offer some classes in the Spring of 2025, launch summer camp June 30-August 1, and build toward a full slate of after school and weekend classes in the 2025-26 school year.
Base Salary: $32,500, paid biweekly, for an average of 20 hours/week
Hours: 20 hours/week, including 6-12 teaching hours during the school year. Must be available on school days off (8:30-3:30), Saturdays, at least two weekday afternoons during after school hours, and most of the summer
Summer Salary: $35/hour for working any camp hours over 20/week
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree, master’s degree preferred
At least 2 years experience in art education or elementary education in general
Understanding of child development or training in educational pedagogy like Montessori or Reggio Emilia
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience in the arts strongly preferred
Hyattsville resident strongly preferred
