camps

Our full day camps offer a creative space for children on school breaks and days off. Open to children in grades K-5, we engage children around a theme and balance their day with art time, outdoor time, stories, discussion, and quiet moments.

Summer Camp 2026 Registration is open!

Camps are offered at both locations:
7007 Carroll Ave, Takoma Park and 4214 Gallatin St, Hyattsville

Camp operates from 9:00-3:00, with optional aftercare until 5:30. We break camp into two groups: rising K-2nd graders, and rising 3rd-5th graders.  Each camp week will use a blend of media: drawing, painting, printing, collage, sculpture and fiber arts. We will also highlight an innovative or courageous person who contributed to their field and helped us to better understand the world and ourselves.

Price: $495/week, optional aftercare $35/day or $145/week. 10% sibling discount for the second child enrolled in the same program. Please abide by the 2-week maximum enrollment per child.

Cancellation Policy: Summer camp enrollment is refundable until April 1, except for a nonrefundable $35. After April 1, there are no summer camp refunds.

Scholarship funds are available, please inquire at lia@theloftcollective.org.

Dig Down Deep
What is happening under the ground? This camp will go below the surface to explore habitats of creatures that burrow and tunnel. We’ll observe plant roots and gemstones, fox dens and fossils, ant trails and beetle highways. There’s a buzzing world under our feet!  Profile: Jane Goodall, naturalist

Takoma: June 22-26 / July 20-24
Hyattsville:June 29-July 2 /  July 27-31

Treehouse: A Bird’s Eye View
The ultimate childhood escape. A room of your own in nature. We’ll build our own mini treehouse, imagining a place in the tree canopy where we can observe the familiar from a different vantage point. We’ll discuss perspective and topography as we create an elevated hideaway. Profile: Zaha Hadid, architect

Takoma: July 13-17 / Aug 10-14
Hyattsville: July 6-10 / Aug 3-7

Tiny Creatures: The World of Microbes
We’re taking a close look at the tiniest creatures we know about: microbes! We’ll study their shapes and patterns, using watercolor, fabric, paint and clay. We’ll also talk about their function in our lives: where they live, what they do, and how they can both hurt us and help us. Part biology, part art, all fun! Profile: Dr. Kizzmekia Corbett, viral Immunologist, and June Almeida: virologist

Takoma: July 6-10 / Aug 3-7
Hyattsville: June 22-26 / July 20-24

Lucky Penny: Charms and Symbols
RIP The Penny, 1793-2025. This camp week will study the history of this retired coin and explore symbols of luck and good fortune around the world. How do different cultures use objects, like the penny, to hold charms, protection, and wish-granting powers? And how do we choose whose face appears on a coin? Profile: Susan B. Anthony, activist for women’s rights and the abolition of slavery, and Sacagawea, American explorer, each featured for a time on the $1 coin

Takoma: June 29-July 2 / July 27-31
Hyattsville: July 13-17 /  Aug 10-14
