Spring Session 1: Feb 21 - Apr 13
Spring Session 2: Apr 18 -June 1

Programming prices reflect market value of classes. However, to make programming accessible to all students, we have seeded a Scholarship Fund so that we may offer classes at a lower price. We encourage those who can to contribute to this fund. Your generosity makes creative experiences available to any child in our community who would like to attend.

*Scholarships and sibling discounts available! Contact Lia at lia@theloftcollective.org for more info.

Art Exploration (ages 2-4)

For our youngest artists, we center our curriculum around children’s literature. Each class includes an invitation - a short activity introducing children to the concept or material we’ll be working with that day, an interactive story, and a process-based project tied to the story exploring paint, glue, collage or sculpting materials. Each class includes 30 minutes in our sensory room for open play. Caregiver attends with child and is encouraged to assist when needed while giving the child freedom to guide the experience and make their own art artistic choices.

New: Tinker Time (ages 1.5-3)

Drop-in play on Wednesday mornings, with a rotating art activity, sensory play, books, manipulatives, light table. No guided instruction, no commitment. Come in when you can! Adult caregiver must attend with child.

Emergent Artists (ages 5-8)

Children will be introduced to a variety of unique materials and mediums and will complete projects inspired by influential artists and children’s literature. Sessions throughout the year will have a different focus including sculpture and clay works, collage, drawing and painting.

Traveling Crafters (ages 6-10)

This art course teaches the elements of art and the principles of design through the exploration of world handicrafts. The course will highlight how communities express themselves and their cultures with local materials. Students will learn how to engage with both found and common art materials in recreating their own interpretation of these traditional crafts. Emphasis will be on taking what seems like *nothing much,* and making it something beautiful.

Little Stitchers (ages 7-10)

This intro to sewing class focuses on basic skills like tying knots and threading needles, with hand sewing projects that are good for little hands! This is a great confidence builder, and gets them ready for machine sewing classes later.

Friday Stitchers (ages 9-12)

Working with fabric and yarn is satisfying, confidence-building, and relaxing. We’ll cover hand sewing techniques including embroidery, and basic machine sewing, for handmade items that are personal, practical, and make great gifts.

Seasonal sign ups: Fall (Sept 15-Dec 15), Winter (Jan 5-Mar 22)

Friday Crafters (ages 9-12)

This Friday club focuses on collaborative projects that develop individual creativity while amplifying a collective vision and voice. Be ready to work together, solve problems, and learn from each other! Group projects will be featured as installations in the studio, or in our neighborhood. Part social time, part creative space, this is a great way to ease into the weekend.

Doodle Jam (ages 7-11)

Open drawing session meant to encourage artists to experiment, play, and draw together. Make interesting mistakes and see what they could be. Doodle, sketch, try something new, or just draw a monster because you feel like drawing a monster. Dave draws along with the group using a document camera & projector. Artists who want to share what they are working on can do so.  Lively and supportive discussion helps us draw inspiration from each other's work.
